Why Bother?

I've been asked why I "bother" with prison ministry. The assumption is that the incarcerated aren't worth the effort. They are bad news, are there because the deserve to be and sane people would stay away from them staying out of harm's way. I'm sure there may be some that did not commit the crimes for which they have been sentenced, but for the most part they are there because they deserve to be, however, if we all were to receive what we deserve there would be no reason for a Savior. Those that find themselves behind the lethal fence have made mistakes, but God loves them the same as you and me.

Let's imagine for a moment that someone showed up at your door and told you that you had 2 minutes to decide which of your 2 children were to be put to death at the end of those 2 minutes. There was no getting around this situation, one of your children is going to be put to death. One of your children is the "perfect child", straight "A's" in school, polite, respectful, etc. The other has had a checkered past, is an alcoholic, has a past conviction and continues to be on a path of destruction. They are both YOUR children.... which do you choose? Which do you love less?

Is there anything your child could do to make you LOVE them more?
Is there anything they could do to make you LOVE them less?

God sees all of His children in this way. All are the same, all are loved and all are in need of a Savior.

Prisons are every bit as much of a mission field as anywhere else in the world. They are among the darkest of places on the planet. Some refer to them as "Satan's playground". I have heard Earth referred to the same way. I can't think of a mission field that is more in need of the gospel message and conveyance of God's agape love.

Why do I bother? Because God bothered with me..... and YOU!

Upcoming Reunion at Crossroads

July 25th is fast approaching and preparations are being made for the Kairos reunion at Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron, MO. I think I speak for all on the Kairos team when I say we look forward to serving the offenders.

God has used Kairos, in ways only He can, to touch the hearts of these men.

Please pray for the team as we know, without a doubt, that Satan will raise his evil head in an attempt to disrupt our efforts. The evil one is fully aware that we are servants of the one true God as we bring the light of Christ to the offenders at Crossroads and will do all he can to render cold a servant's heart. We are no match for the wiles of the devil, but the devil is no match for our mighty God. God has never failed to grant us His protection and we are confident that prayers will be answered and we will once again be used according to His will.

Twitter

Twitter isn't as lame as I thought. I find it a good way to send and receive prayer requests, agape requests, get and give updates on Kairos events, cry out to the brethren when feeling overwhelmed, etc.

Kairos PLUS

God has used Kairos in such an amazing way at Crossroads Correctional Center in Cameron, MO. God is touching the lives of the inmates through the servant hearts of Kairos volunteers. For some Kairos members, the emphasis of serving doesn't stop with the bi-annual Kairos events. There are VIC's (Volunteer in Corrections) that have extended their involvement with Kairos to include other areas such as GED, ESLS (Employee Skills, Life Skills), and other call outs. By doing so, this has glorified the kingdom of God, as the inmates are fully aware that those who sacrifice the time to teach are often Kairos volunteers. Credibility is gained as those who preach "Listen, Listen, Love, Love" practice what they preach in arenas other than Kairos. To God goes the glory of what is happening at Crossroads and may He continue to bless ALL who volunteer; Kairos and non-Kairos alike, offering up their time, talent, treasure and touch as they provide encouragement and support to His children behind prison walls.

Let the readers of this blog know how God is using Kairos where you are! Post a comment!

As Red Skelton used to say.... "Good night, and may God bless."

Letter from Satan

To the Kairos troublemakers....

Oh how I loathe you! I work diligently influencing choices that cause man to stumble and many of those choices put them behind prison walls where I can really go to work on them! I delight in the inherent darkness behind prison walls. It is a breeding ground for hatred, discontent, divisiveness, aggression, violence, bigotry, jealousy, rage, and the list goes on...... but you have to meddle! Why must you bring the Light of Christ to these I have sought to control for so long!? You bring the Spirit in here and HE messes everything up! How dare you provide opportunity for hope, encouragement, and .... ugh..... love! The Light shines brightly in the darkness found behind prison walls. It hurts my eyes and causes me pain! I have worked very hard to get these guys where they are and if you think I'm going to lose them without a fight you are naive. I have been and will continue to battle against you. I will find and expose any weakness I can find and use it against you as a distraction. I will not go away. Oh no.... I will fight even harder to shrink your numbers and return MY prisons to the way they were before KAIROS showed up!

Devilishly yours with all hatred,
Satan

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 ESV

Everything Kairos is Welcome

This blog is for all thing related to Kairos Prison Ministry.
My prayer is that it is used as a real time source of encouragement, support, and praise to bring Kairos brothers and sisters together. Currently you need not be a member to make a post. Neither are the posts reviewed prior to their being displayed. If posts are made that are, in my opinion, not related to the intent of this blog they will be deleted.

This is designed to be an interactive blog for the entire Kairos family.

Kairos #5 - Crossroads Correctional Center, Cameron, MO

What an amazing time. The Holy Spirit showed up "big time" as He softened hearts and brought forth tears from even the most hardened offenders. The agape blew the prisoners minds!
Thanks to all who emailed, faxed and sent agape for the event.

Prayer Requests... Kairos of Missouri needs many more men. Please pray that God would raise up workers for this vital mission field. One offender, "J.M." has a wife with stage 4 cancer. Please include them in your prayers as well. Also, a member of our team, Travis, is battling cancer and another, Larry, has some serious family and medical issues. Please include them also.

May God bless you all abundantly!

In the grip of His grace,
Bryan
